The Village of Woodsfield established its own electric company, Woodfield Power & Light, in 1898. Their goal then, and still yet today, is to provide the most reliable and economical power service to the businesses and residents in and around the village.
Â
Woodsfield Power and Light has an electric system consisting of distribution and interconnection facilities that meets the electric service requirements of the approximately 1,609 customers it serves. The electric system also owns six diesel generators with a net output capacity of approximately 6.5 MW, which are used for emergency back-up and peak shaving when there is large demand upon the electric grid system. In 2001, the village constructed a substation to provide greater system reliability. Plans to increase capacity and further support its reliability are underway. Woodsfield Power & Light is available to work with new and existing businesses or residents to ensure adequate electric service.
